Govt invests in fish farming

GHANA - In recent years Ghana's Ministry of Fisheries has disbursed about 30 billion to industry in the form of outboard motors and micro credits to the nation's fishermen.

It is now adding to the process of funding and inputs to its trained and existing fish farmers through the rural banks, said the sector Minister, Gladys Asmah, said in a statement read out at the 15th Annual General Meeting of the Ankobra West rural bank at Esiama over the weekend.

Mrs Asmah disclosed that as part of its policy direction, the Ministry has embarked on a massive promotion of aquaculture as a tool for wealth and job creation in the country.
