The agreement, published in the Official Journal of the Federation, will make shrimp production more competitive and profitable, as it improves the health status and, consequently, drives the national marketing and International trade of larvae, postlarvae and players, as well as the crustacean products and byproducts.
Additionally, the declaration will help to create and maintain jobs, and open and develop national and international markets.
Yellow head disease is a viral infection which is characterised by rapid mortality. It differs because it causes a yellow tint in the cephalothorax of crustaceans and a general body whitening.
Mexico Free of Yellowhead Disease in Shrimp
MEXICO - The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (USDA) has declared Mexico as free from yellow head disease in farmed shrimp.
