Mississippi's Delta Ag Expo 2007

MISSISSIPPI - The theme for the 34th Annual Delta Ag Expo is Agriculture: Mississippis #1 Industry. This event will be held at the Bolivar County Expo Center in Cleveland, Mississippi, on TuesdayJanuary 16, and Wednesday, January 17, 2007.

The goal of the Delta Ag Expo is to present the latest technical information relating to agricultural crops produced in Mississippi and surrounding states. The traditional Delta crops, cotton, rice, soybeans, wheat, grain sorghum, and corn, are always an important part of the educational seminars. New technology and research-proven information is top priority with the Delta Ag Expo planning committee.

Tuesday morning’s seminar will be on Rice and Soybean production. Topics for the rice production session of the program include: variety selection, rice fertility, and weed control. Soybean production’s session will discuss row spacing, planting dates, insect management and a look back to last year’s crop.

Tuesday afternoon’s session will be: Cotton and Corn Production. Topics for this session are cotton irrigation, cotton insects, roundup-ready management and hybrid selection and other highyield
management issues.

Wednesday’s session will be: Drift Problems and Wheat Production. This session will focus on herbicide drift and new regulations affecting growers and aerial applicators. The wheat session will discuss nitrogen fertilizer timing and rates, weed and disease control, and double cropping soybeans.

There will be over 100 commercial exhibits at the 2007 Expo that will represent every phase of agriculture. Exhibits will be open on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Wednesday’s hours will be 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
