Oil Threatens Clams

Salmonids Health Clams +4 more

US - With oil officially reaching some gulf shores, the quality of water in hatcheries is being closely monitored.

University of Florida Food and Resource Economics Professor Chuck Adams says one specific aquaculture is particularly at risk, clams.

He says the impact of oil actually hitting the shores could mean a number of problems- short term revenue loss and long term product mortality. He says the bottom line is areas like Cedar Key face serious problems, that are hard to gauge in advance.
