Russia Imposes Fish Import Restrictions

RUSSIA - Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control (Rosselkhoznadzor) decided to impose temporary restrictions on fish imports from a number of foreign companies starting January 1, 2008.

The decision was based on the results of inspections of foreign fish processing plants and the safety and quality of fish imports into Russia.

The restrictions will apply to one company in Argentine, three Vietnamese companies, 15 Chinese firms, two companies in Norway, and five in the United States.
