Nutrition Health Politics +2 more

GOA, INDIA - The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), is urging shrimp farmers not to use banned antibiotics and herbicides containing pendimethalim.

The Hindu reports that the Karwar-based office of MPEDA at the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has urged shrimp farmers to avoid the use of banned antibiotics and herbicides containing pendimethalim.

Shrimp and scampi farmers are facing challenges owing to quality issues and the mandatory requirement of screening certificate of the produce from the importing countries.

In order to tackle the problems, MPEDA has established laboratories in other maritime states.
