Catfish Processing Down, Feed Deliveries Up

US - Catfish processing is down three per cent from last year, whilst feed deliveries are up 53 per cent.

Farm-raised catfish processed during February 2012 totaled 27.0 million pounds round weight, down three per cent from February 2011. The average price paid to producers was $1.23 per pound for February 2012, down 1.9 cents from last month but 22.6 cents above a year ago, states the latest figures from the USDA catfish reports.

Total catfish feed delivered in the US during February 2012 was 7,612 tons, up 53 per cent from February 2011, and up 30 per cent from the previous month.
