CFP Reform Discussed in Madeira and the Azores

PORTUGAL - The Common Fisheries Policy reform and the new European Maritime and Fisheries Fund is on the agenda as EU Fisheries Commissioner Maria Damanaki visits the Azores and Madeira on 4 and 5 March 2013.

Today (4 March), she is visiting the Azores where she has discussions with Mr Vasco Alves Cordeiro, President of the Regional Azorean Government and officials of the Regional Government of Azores.

Commissioner Damanaki also has a meeting with European Parliament members from the Azores and a separate meeting with stakeholders (fishing industry, maritime industry, NGOs, citizen's organisation, processors etc.).

On March 5, Maria Damanaki is visiting Madeira, where she will have discussions with Mr Alberto João Jardim, President of the Regional Madeira Government, with members of the Regional Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, with officials of the Regional Madeira Government for Fisheries, and with a member of the European Parliament from Madeira.

The agenda includes discussions about several aspects of the Common Fisheries Policy reform, the new European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, and specific issues of local and regional interest.
