CROATIA - The European Commission, alongside FARNET and the Croatian authorities, held a conference on 6 May to kick-off a community-led local development (CLLD) in fisheries areas in Croatia.

The objective of the event is to raise awareness and stimulate the interest of coastal communities in CLLD, promote the achievements of this approach in the past, identify useful methods and practices, but also learn about the local state of play and needs.

The event will also raise awareness about how fisheries communities can be involved to help the development of their communities, so as to create jobs, boost competitiveness, and create an environmentally friendly and resource-efficient economy.

Croatia intends to dedicate €19 million of its total European Maritime and Fisheries Fund allocation (€252.6 million for the 2014-2020 period) to CLLD.
