EU-Morocco Fisheries Agreement to be Discussed

MOROCCO - EU Fisheries Commissioner, Maria Damanaki, is to travel to Rabat, Morocco to launch the process of negotiations for a new EU-Morocco fisheries agreement protocol.

Ms Damanaki is travelling to Rabat today (20 April) where she is to meet the Minister for Agriculture, Mr Aziz Akhannouch.

Ahead of the visit, Commissioner Damanaki pointed out that "I am going to meet our Moroccan counterparts to confirm the willingness of the Commission to start negotiations on a new protocol to the EU-Morocco Fisheries Partnership Agreement, possibly in May, based on the mandate received from the EU Council of Ministers."

During her visit, Commissioner Damanaki is to present the EU priorities for the negotiation.
