The purpose of this project is to focus on hygiene in the transportation of seafood and the technical standards of transport units.

For the international transport of perishable foodstuffs, the transport unit must have a valid ATP-approval (technical certification of refrigeration equipment and insulation on the transport unit).

The FSA will also try to obtain a more complete picture on how seafood is transported through the region.

Inspections will be carried out on transport equipment, which carrys seafood in and out of transfer terminals in the region. Foreign transport units will be checked if they are encountered by the inspections.

A portion of the project is to clarify the possible need for more information about the rules of the industry.
