Government Sets Up Aid for Fishing Fleets Affected by EU Fishing Agreements

SPAIN - The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment has organized aid for fishing vessels and fishermen affected by the reduction of fishing opportunities in the international fisheries agreement between the EU and Mauritania and due to the suspension of the agreement between the EU and Guinea Bissau.

To be eligible for these grants, ship owners and crews must be affected by fishing restrictions of the agreement with Mauritania and the suspension of the protocol with Guinea Bissau.

The maximum amount for this call is set to €4,451,184.

The financing of aid shall be charged to budget "Operating Aid programs of the European Union" of the 2013 State Budget, with input from the European Fisheries Fund.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment has also published an order establishing the basis for the granting of aid for Spanish fishing vessels affected by the adjustment plan for northern hake.
