Icelandic Fish Catches Lower in February 2013

ICELAND - Total catch of Icelandic vessels in February 2013 was 234,674 tonnes compared to 312,230 tonnes in February 2012, according to Statistics Iceland.

Demersal species accounted for nearly 45 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 25 thousand tonnes, haddock nearly six thousand tonnes, redfish nearly six thousand tonnes and saithe nearly four thousand tonnes.

The pelagic catch was 187 thousand tonnes, thereof capelin nearly 187 thousand tonnes and capelin 361 tonnes.

At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 13.7 per cent in February 2013 compared with February 2012.
