Mexico Allocates 73.1 million to Improve Sustainable Fishing and Aquaculture

MEXICO - The National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CONAPESCA) has allocated 73.1 million pesos to 103 producer organisations in 18 states of the country, as part of action to promote sustainable fishing.

The central purpose of the scheme is to promote the sustainable use of fisheries and aquaculture, through the delivery of support to assist in the implementation of preventive and operational inspection and surveillance activities in the sector. It is also hoped to combat illegal fishing.

Of the beneficiaries', 21.5 million pesos were granted to organisations in Sinaloa and 10.6 million to Sonora, among others.
