New Omani Aquaculture Projects Could Increase Production by 35,000 tonnes

OMAN - The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) in Oman has received 17 applications for commercial aquaculture projects worth RO234mn with an average production of approximately 35,000 tonnes of various marine animals.

The 17 applications are in different stages of approval, reports the MuscatDaily.

Eng Dawood bin Suleiman al Yahyaee, director of aquaculture development department in MoAF said: “Omani institutions and companies wishing to establish commercial aquaculture projects, land and sea, can submit applications from August 7 till September 8.”

Mr Yahyaee said that MoAF has allocated several places for aquaculture projects in the areas of Muscat, South Sharqiyah and Al Wusta.
