The suspected outbreak has been found on a salmon farm owned by Arnøy Laks.
Samples were sent to the veterinary service after increased mortality was seen on the farm.
Restrictions on the movement of fish has now been implemented.
Until the disease is confirmed and a control zone is in place, all who live in the area are asked to show due care so that the spread of the disease is avoided.
