SAGARPA Set Catch Quota for Bluefin Tuna

MEXICO - The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) has established that for 2013 the catch quota of bluefin tuna is 3,295 tons in federal waters of the Pacific Ocean and in waters that are in the area of ??regulation of American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC).

The tuna fishing industry is of great importance to Mexico.

SAGARPA, through the National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CONAPESCA), based on Resolution C-12-9 of the IATTC, established this quota in the agreement published in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF).

People who breach or violate this Agreement will be subject to sanctions.
