Sustainability Economics Politics +4 more

SPAIN - The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, through the General Secretariat of Fisheries, has managed an exchange quota for fishing for 900 tonnes of mackerel with Portugal in the Ciem IX area corresponding to the waters of southern Galicia and Gulf of Cadiz.

The two countries have agreed upon an exchange as part of the negotiations.

The General Secretariat is considering opening a stock of horse mackerel fishery for siege mode in the Northwest Bay of Biscay, and will communicate the date and conditions of the opening in the days to come.

The exchange will mainly benefit the Galician fleet of Northwest Cantabrian who currently cannot fish for mackerel.
