Economics +1 more

UK - British supermarket chain Tesco is selling British reared tilapia - the first time British farmed tilapia has been available in the UK.

The fish is being supplied by The Fish Company, that has farms in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

The fish are 100 per cent produced in the UK and are not hormone treated and are fully traceable according to report in World Fishing and Aquaculture.

The company said that the tilapia is farmed to the highest standards with complete traceability, including the feed which is supplied by Skretting.

The company uses a recirculation system that helps to ensure the welfare of the fish.

The Fish Company is currently producing 700 tonnes of tilapia a year, the report says.
