Time and Size Limits Imposed on Lobster Catch

Crustaceans Sustainability Politics +3 more

VENEZUELA A protection act has imposed a lobster catching ban from 1 February to 30 September.

The protection will protect the green species of the spiny dwarf lobster through the spawning season, the Ministry of Popular Power for Agriculture and Lands has announced.

The decision was attributed to two seasons of high lobster reproduction - February to March and August to September.

New size restrictions dictate an 11 centimetre minimum and a 16 inch maximum to protect juveniles and pregnant mothers.

A fine will be issued to anyone in breach of the ban.
