Meetings have also been held with leaders from Directorate of Fisheries, Department of Capture Fisheries and Fisheries Resources Protection and Sub-departments of Capture Fisheries and Fisheries Resources Protection in key provinces for tuna fishing, reports Vasep.

These meetings were aimed at creating a programme to support Vietnamese tuna production companies whilst ensuring compliance with commitments in the tuna fishing, consumption and International Dolphin Conservation Programme.

One of the key activities in this programme is the “Dolphin Safe” media campaign. This campaign includes printing “Dolphin safe” stickers, posting stickers on tuna fishing vessels, fishing ports, trading desks in fishing ports of seven tuna fishing provinces namely Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Tien Giang and Kien Giang.
