Imports of salmon eggs from Iceland were banned on a temporary basis from August, after Totivirus infection was found.
This inclusion meant that Sernapesca carried out risk analysis in order to assess whether Iceland met the appropriate levels of health protection required by Chile.
The Deputy Director of Aquaculture, Alicia Gallardo, stated that the health authority of Iceland promptly sent the background required to perform such evaluation.
"According to the results of the risk analysis and considering that no comments were received during the public consultation period, imports will be allowed again."
Iceland is the only country Sernapesca has authorized to import Atlantic salmon eggs to Chile.
