A National Fisheries Plan is needed in order to promote unification and food security in the sector.

This will consolidate the strategies needed for planning, promotion and development.

It is important that the fisheries sector is modernised, ensuring proper fuel distribution and keeping fishing gear up to date.

"We are here to assist in designing the national fisheries plan that goes into effect in the next five years," said Glenys Andrade, representative of the National Agricultural Research Institute (INIA).

Thus the Bolivarian Government, through the Vice Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture moves to consolidate the scientific, technological and social conditions in the fisheries sector of the country and guarantees equal access to the Venezuelan people's food from the seas Venezuelans
